Halloween Running/Yoga/Blogger Meet-up!
My Halloween weekend was filled with some costumes, cupcakes, and RUNNING! Luckily I spent my Halloween weekend in Princeton, home to the glorious school colors of orange and black. Good place to celebrate Halloween, right? If anyone watches 30 Rock, you may chuckle at the quote, “Orange and black decorations. Is this Halloween? Or a Princeton Parents’ Weekend? I don’t know whether to be scared or proud of my cousin.” or “This is going to be the scariest Princeton Parents’ Weekend EVER!”
I don’t really even like 30 Rock, but it was rather humorous.
I got a late start to Princeton yesterday (I like to sleep…), and it misted the entire way here and was a bit wet for our short little run. The Rocket Scientist and I haven’t run together in a longgggg time thanks to my little injury, but we made it back together alright. He only had four miles on his schedule on Saturday, so four miles it was. Isn’t it funny how ten miles can seem like a piece of cake, but four miles can drag on for. ev. er? This seemed like such a long run and I just wanted to be done! The way out was superrrr windy, but it felt a little better on the way back. It probably didn’t help that we ran at two in the afternoon and I had yet to eat anything except coffee…oops!
Saturday, October 31 – HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
4.01 miles in 31:57, avg pace of 7:58
We ended up going to bed around one in the morning after watching the Phillies lose
, but compliments of daylight savings, it was only midnight! Fantastic. I wish that happened every week! The Rocket Scientist and I woke up super early (we’re talking before SEVEN…that’s unheard of in my schedule!) and hit the road early. I wanted to run ten miles since I’m still taking it easy on my road to recovery, and the Rocket Scientist had his last twenty mile run in marathon training…yay! We ran the first ten together, which went pretty well. My leg felt great, and although our eight minute pace didn’t quite feel like something I could hold for 26.2 miles, I wasn’t exhausted at the end. Still working on the game plan for the marathon, but I’m definitely positive I can still finish it despite my lack of training.
Sunday, November 1
10.25 miles in 1:21:21, avg pace of 7:56
After the ten miles, the Rocket Scientist headed out for another ten, and I had a blogger meet-up! Yay! Yasi from NJ Training and I have spoken before about how we need to get together to run/bike/eat at Twist, but we have yet to meet up despite being close on a semi-regular basis. She mentioned on her last post that she might be going to yoga on Sunday morning, so I facebooked her and asked if she was going for sure so I could meet her there! The Lululemon in Princeton has free yoga on Sundays, and I’ve always wanted to try yoga, but I’m not really brave enough to go on my own. We had ourselves a little yoga date…it was really fun!
I’ve never done yoga before, except for trying to follow along on FitTV or Exercise TV, so it was a new experience for me. I even asked if I was supposed to take my shoes off…haha. The instructor was really nice and asked if anyone was new to yoga, telling us to listen to our bodies and do the best that we could do…whatever that was for us. She adjusted my pose during our first (of many!) downward facing dogs, so I have a bit more of a clue as to what I’m doing now. The class lasted for an hour and I was definitely shaking during some of the poses…I have no flexibility and some of it was hard. Yoga is more difficult than it looks! When my gym opens up (or on another Sunday morning!), I’ll definitely give it another try.
It was really fun to meet Yasi, especially since I felt like I kind of knew her! Blogger meet-ups are exciting because you kind of know about people and their lives from their blogs, but you don’t really know them. She was very sweet and helped find me a yoga mat and everything…very important for a first-timer! We should definitely meet-up again, and I may be hunting you down for some triathlon tips next year.
I just realized that we should have snapped a picture for proof…maybe next time!
Time for some yummy dinner (soup in the crock pot!) to fuel our cheering bones for the PHILLIES tonight! Let’s go Phils!

That’s great that you and the RS got to run together again!
Oof, I don’t know if I’m brave enough to do a yoga blogger meet-up. I’d probably fall on my face and make an awkward first impression.
Isn’t yoga just crazy hard?! I bet it was fun to try it with a fellow blogger though! I also bet it is easy to get addicted to, after a few sessions.
I was super excited about that extra hour too! It really helped! (Until I felt so tired Sunday night, ha ha)
Yay, I’m glad we finally got to meet up too! This Sunday was definitely one of the more difficult ones I’ve been too, I guess you’re lucky that you’ll be missing the next time she’ll be back due the Philadelphia marathon! Though maybe an hour of yoga isn’t as hard as running 26.2.
Triathlon tips – for sure!!
