Happy Birthday to the Rocket Scientist!!

Happy birthday to my Rocket Scientist!!  James (his real name!) turns 25 today…yay!  In case you don’t know, I call him “The Rocket Scientist” because he has his undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering and is now pursuing a PhD (yikes!) in mechanical and aerospace engineering.  (Sounds fancy, right?)  He talks about lasers and microwaves and combustion and shows me videos that I don’t really understand about things he’s done in lab…but I guess I like him anyway.  :)

To demonstrate his rocket scientist-ness, here’s a picture from our graduation cap decorating…that took some major convincing on my part to get him to do.  However, once he came up with his idea, he was golden:

Cap Decorating 002Maryland Rocket made of foam…This was some serious business!

And he was even more excited when he ended up on his department’s home page!

Stay tuned for the further details of his birthday celebration, but for now, here’s a little showcase of us!

We met on a band trip to Denver freshman year (perk of being in pep band…free trips for ACC and NCAA tournaments!  Here we are senior year in Niagara Falls…NCAA Round One!

imageI do NOT recommend going in March.  So cooooold!

On occasion, we can be super cute.

At least I keep my tongue in my mouth.  :)

I can’t believe we met when we were 19!  Crazy!  We’re getting old.  ;)   I’m heading to Princeton tonight to have dinner with the Rocket Scientist and his parents…and of course have cake which I am SUPER excited about.  I’m bad at keeping secrets and I really wanted to tell the Rocket Scientist what it is…ahh!  I guess I can hold out a few more hours.  :)

Taper week continues!  I switched over to my ever faithful Hal Higdon for my taper week since I haven’t really followed Pfitz since my injury.  Only three miles on the list for today…I had to think hard about a three mile route since I’ve only done maybe one or two three mile runs!  Oh marathon training.  :)   I found one, and three miles goes by quick!  I just hope miles 23-26 are that easy.

Tuesday, November 17 – Happy Birthday, James!!
3.03 miles in 23:09, avg pace of 7:39

I’m liking the current forecast for Marathon Sunday…it’s looking MUCH better than the showers that were predicted the past few days.

Perfect marathon weather, I think!  Off to some shopping and birthday fun…sounds like a good day off to me!
