i like days off more than you…i promise

Yesterday was my day off since I’m working this weekend, and like every other day off I’ve EVER had, it was glorious.  Any day I don’t have to go to work is a good day.  That’s so terrible!  I’m coming up on the seven month mark, so I just have to hold strong for five more months…ugh.

Anyway!  I had a very productive day yesterday, which mainly included getting everything together so I can send out my Christmas cards, which I am VERY excited about.  :)   I also took my bridesmaid dress in to get altered (since apparently I’m expected to be about six inches taller…what??), and let me tell you…the dress was expensive enough (about $160, I believe), and alterations are going to cost me $48!  That’s insane!  And I probably won’t ever wear it again…ah, the tale of a bridesmaid.

Oh, and I watched all the episodes of Glee that I’ve missed.  Love that show!

The Rocket Scientist is being all rocket science-y and jet setted to Japan for a conference, so he left yesterday and will be abroad until next Friday.  Sad for me, but exciting for him, so I suppose it all evens out.  In attempt to entertain myself, I met up with marathon buddy Paul for some running and food.  Since I work 3-11pm, I forget how early it gets dark!  We ran along in the dark (but on a lit street), so it worked out well.  I’m usually ridiculously unsure of my footing while running in the dark (and I’m convinced that the evil people of the world will attack me and throw me into a river…whether a river is nearby or not), but no worries, I survived and dodged many light poles along the way.  For some reason, my garmin decided to lose satellite reception after about a mile (weird?), so I don’t know the specifics of my run.  Compliments of gmap pedometer, it figured out to be somewhere around 4.75 miles.  I think.  Give or take.

Thursday, December 10
4.75-ish miles in 45:00-ish minutes, avg pace of maybe 9:30-ish?  Who knows.

Whatever it was, it was fun to run with someone!  There are a million (or…three) bakeries in the area that Paul lives in, so I got quite excited about that.  Now I just need to venture down there when they’re open!  Must sample…and ask for job applications.  Yesssss.

In other exciting news, I work this weekend (not exciting), but my college roommate is coming for breakfast on Saturday!!  She used to live outside DC, but she recently moved to Durham to attend Duke for grad school, so I don’t get to see her much at all!  (Allie and Sarah, I will hopefully be making a trip to Durham this spring!)  I’m pumped.  :)   I hope you all have wonderful Fridays and glorious work-free weekends!

how come you need to wait 5 more months? if you’re unhappy, i wouldn’t waste any more time there, you’ll only be miserable. 8 months is a good amount of time…

Ugh, being a bridesmaid is the worst $$$ wise. I was in one in Oct. The dresses were $200, and to shorten the dresses was supposed to be free by the bridal shop. Nope, totally not the case, plus the lady talked me out of buying the size I wanted, and it was ginormous, so I had to spend a good $60 on alterations. I don’t think I’d spend that much on MY wedding dress. GRR. Totally feel your pain.

Glad you found a running buddy, I’m jealous of your speed, because I wouldn’t be able to keep up w/most boys.

So annoying to buy bridesmaid’s dresses. The last one I bought was so expensive.

Have fun with your roommate this weekend!

The RS is in JAPAN? Those scientists, they get to go everywhere! What do the humanities get? Nothing.

I’ve never been a bridesmaid. I hope that if someone asks me, I don’t have to buy an oogly, expensive dress.

What happens after a year of being at that job? You move on to something else? Is it required/recommended that you do a year of critical care (wait, is that your area?) before moving on to something else? Sorry for all the nursing questions. Just trying to get a grasp on job stuff!

Days off from work are the best kind of days! You can make it through the five more months. Just think of it as time you’ll be training for Boston!

Running buddies make running so much more enjoyable!
Bridesmaid dresses = annoying. They’re usually ugly and cost sooo much. Ugggh.
