After my crazy holiday events the past week, it’s been a pretty peaceful weekend! I’m got back into running, so I was happy about that. I ended up taking a week off between my family being here and getting sick! I’m okay with that, however. Marathon training doesn’t start up for another few weeks, so I still have time to get my mileage up. No worries, it’s time to enjoy running and figure out my plan for 2010! I would clue you all in, but I have nothing currently planned except Boston. I need to work on that.
I also need to work on my life plan for 2010, but that deserves a post all in itself. Back to running.
Saturday was a rainy, rainy day here in Pennsylvania! Allllll the snow that we got last week has disappeared, except for bits and pieces where there were huge piles. It seemed like it was going to rain all day, so the Rocket Scientist and I headed out for a run. It actually wasn’t too cold out (hence the rain!), but it was definitely a wet run. The front of me was soaked and the back of me was dry! We made it a short run since we were both coming back from some mini-time off and the Japanese flu, but it was still a good run. We even splashed through some puddles…and got splashed by some cars…

The Rocket Scientist’s knee has been bothering him on and off since the marathon, and we think it’s ITBS, so he decided to take the day off. Better to rest than to get hurt even more! It was a beautiful day here in Pennsylvania, with the sun shining and temperatures in the 40’s! Shorts and a long sleeve tshirt and I was on my way. I was worried that my trail would be super soggy from the great snow meltdown/downpour on Saturday, but only a few spots were puddle-filled. I like puddles just like anyone else, but soggy shoes aren’t always my favorite…I managed to avoid wet socks for most of the run, so I consider that a victory. Not too many people were out running today, although I did spot one guy ahead of me in a Philly Marathon shirt from this year…I turned around before I caught him…oh well. Lovely “long” run, with a 7:20 uphill mile to cap it off! I’ll take it.

I was noting how many miles I’ve ran in 2009, and Sport Track tells me that I’m up to 1,580. That’s a lot of miles! I also think I need to squeeze in twenty miles between now and New Year’s Eve in order to make it an even 1,600. Sounds good to me!
Back to real work tomorrow…boo! I have Thursday off for New Year’s Eve, but I am working New Year’s Day. I like the time and a half so I can’t complain too much, I suppose. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend…and hopefully you don’t have to work too much this week.

Wow, you’ve run a ton of miles this year! So fantastic, Susan. I wish our snow would start melting soon. It’s still coming down, and it pretty much looks like a blizzard outside.
Nice mileage for the year. I am over 3000
Oh you can definitely get in another 20!
And 1600 is insane. Especially with your injury. uh…and remind me never to get the japanese flu, k? Awesome.
Man, that is a ton of miles! And since you are going to Boston in the spring, I’m betting they were some pretty quality miles too!
girl thats ALOT of miles! congrats
i’m pretttty sure you should make NY a stop along the way!
Great re-cap from Christmas, though I’m sorry to hear about all the sickness! It was like a sick ward in our house too though, so I feel your pain! You’ve logged an AMAZING amount of miles! I doubt I even came close to 1,000. Maybe I’ll have to tally now just to check!
