Into My Kitchen: Cupcake Pops!

Seeing Megan’s post on her blog about making cupcake pops reminded me that I never blogged about my cupcake pop adventure!  A few weeks ago, my roommate and I had a BBQ (with fantastic weather, mind you), so of course I had to bake something for everyone to enjoy!  Since I try to set the bar high for my baking adventures (after all, I’m in bakery preparation mode), I decided to try these cupcake pops that I saw over at Bakerella.  Oddly enough, the most recent post is about a cupcake pop book, which I will most definitely have to check out!  Anyway, onto the cupcake pops.

The steps to make the cupcake pops are actually pretty simple.  In my terms, you bake a cake.  Then you crumble it.  Then you mix all with frosting.  Roll it into little cake/frosting balls.  Freeze!  Shape with flower shaped cutter (mine was for fondant).  Dip in melted candy/chocolate.  Put in lollipop stick.  Top with sprinkles.  Have people oo and ahhh over your creation!

See Bakerella for the more extended instructions.  Here’s my photo adventure:

Cupcake Pops (7) Homemade funfetti cake (yum!) mixed with cream cheese frosting and rolled into little balls.

Cupcake Pops (10) Bottom half dipped in chocolate…bottoms up!!

Cupcake Pops (15) Cupcake pop forest!!

Cupcake Pops (18) Perfection.

Cupcake Pops (19)Cupcake pop bouquet!  People should send these for Valentine’s Day.  :)

Cupcake Pops (24)  Take a bit out of crime cupcake pop!

The verdict?  These were great!  They were quite the crowd pleaser too.  Most people thought I bought them somewhere, which I believe is a HUGE compliment.  Everyone loved them, and even people who generally shy away from cupcakes (“too big” or something) would eat them since they were pretty bite size.  Making them was a little time consuming since so many steps were involved, but they were well worth it and I’ll definitely make them again sometime.  Give them a try!  Sure to impress.  :)
