shopping adventures!
Like any full-fledged female, I spent my day off yesterday shopping! I wanted to take a look tour around and hit up a few different shops, so it seemed like a great way to spend my afternoon off from work.
Let’s see what good stuff was in store (get it?) for me!
everyone loves a bookstore

Who doesn’t love a bookstore? I can wander around for hours, but I mainly browse the cookbooks, nursing reference books, and health/fitness books. As I was browsing the “health” books, I noticed that most of them were diet books. How many different diets could there possibly be?? Obviously they’re not working if there are so many and America is still, well, overweight. Just saying. Anyway, I didn’t end up buying any books, but I sure had fun browsing.
sweat once a day
Last night at work, I was plotting my day off activities and decided that a trip to Lululemon was in store. Coincidentally enough, I checked my mail when I got home and found a birthday present from Jason in the form of a Lululemon gift card. Thanks Jason…talk about timing! I headed over to the store and browsed around before picking out these shorts. I love that they’re a little funky yet totally cute!
Happy birthday to me…thanks Jason!
popeye bread
Right down the street from Lululemon is Great Harvest Bread Company! It’s a bit of a far trip to buy bread from there on a regular basis, but since I was in the area, I figured I’d pick up a loaf. I grabbed my favorite Popeye bread, which is a spinach bread topped with Parmesan, and I believe there’s some tomato thrown in there.
Soooo good! It totally downpoured on my way out from Lululemon, and poor Great Harvest had lost their power! They still provided excellent customer service, however.
I’m excited for my tasty bread for the week!
I better have huge muscles after this spinach bread!
staying true to my brooks
So, as the you most likely know, I’ve been having IT band problems ever since September. I’ve also been running in my beloved Brooks Adrenalines since I was 17, which was nine years ago, if you noted my recent 26th birthday. With at least two shoes being worn per year…that’s a lot of shoes! While I love my Adrenalines, doing some reading on IT band issues and shoes has led me to believe that perhaps a new type of shoes was in order. I headed to one of the local running stores and presented my problem.
The guy at the store, eyeing my old pair of shoes in my hand, said, “So we’re buying a new pair of shoes today?” To which I responded, “Well, let me tell you a story…” and proceeded to explain my IT band issues. He looked at my shoes and watched my gait. While the wear pattern on my shoes wasn’t anything crazy, he said that my feet only overpronate a tiny bit, so perhaps my old shoes were overcorrecting. My gait may have changed sometime in the past nine years, so while the Adrenalines were appropriate at that time, maybe a switch to a less stable shoe would be better. He brought me Brooks Ravenna first, and they felt pretty good. I told him I’d take them and he said I was making his job too easy. I love Brooks so staying within the brand is okay with me! He pointed out a couple other brands that I could try on, but I decided to stick with my Brooks…they’ve been good to me in the past. I can’t wait to give them a try! I’ll let you know how they work out.
it’s my secret
Last stop on my trip was Victoria’s Secret! It was their semi-annual sale, but let me tell you…I haaaate rummaging through bins of stuff, so I just went straight for the nicely sorted by color, five for $25 rack. Good buy! I’m not exactly one to share with underoos with the world, but I’m happy with my purchases! I will say that I bought some swimsuits from Victoria’s Secret a few weeks ago and I’m really excited about them…buying them online made me a little nervous, but they’re great!
that’s all folks!
Thanks for joining me for my shopping adventure! It was half running related!

**********************************************************************************
And by shortly, I mean right now! I took my new shoes out for a run this morning. It was a little cooler out, clocking around 82 degrees. Not exactly cool, but I’ll take it. I think my legs are a little tired from running TWENTY miles this week, which is the most I’ve ran since Boston. They felt kinda heavy, but we made it through. My foot feels alright and my IT band is a little bothersome, but not painful. So far, so good.
Friday, June 25
4.03 miles in 33:03, avg pace of 8:12
I would LOVE to say that my IT band is magically healed, but obviously one run in new shoes isn’t going to do the trick. Hopefully I’ll be able to notice a difference over time.
It’s my weekend to work, so today marks the first of a four day stretch. I hope you all enjoy the weekend for me! Any big plans this weekend? Let me hear them!

Sounds like a fun shopping adventure. I had horrible IT band problems for a long time, but they seemed to get better when I put arch supports in my Brooks Adrenalines…and cut back a little on the hills. I hope your IT band continues to heal!
Any word on jobs yet?!
I hope the new kicks do the trick. What a fun shopping spree!! I always buy my suits from VS online and they seem to work out. I probably just jinxed myself there. :p
I need to try this Great Harvest Bread – I’ve heard good things!
Plans this weekend: WORLD CUP SOCCER! I hope some of your patients turn on the game so you can catch some before work and some at work!
PS After reading your post, I got my VS birthday gift card in the mail and promptly visited to purchase some 5/$25 – but actually 5/$14! Happy (early) birthday to ME!
I am really anxious to hear about the Ravennas, because that is the same thing someone told me – they may be overcorrecting.
That’s my kind of shopping trip! Especially that bread!
Absolutely love the neew kicks!
Weekend plans?! Bake Cupcakes!
Those are my favorite running shorts out! Love Lulu. I’m really digging the new kicks too!
I’m thinking about going to the Ravenna’s too because I don’t know if I’m crazy about the Adrenaline 10′s. I’ve worn a lot of Adrenalines too, so I’m a little afraid of going to a less posted shoe!
Ahh there is nothin like a good old shopping adventure to make a girl smile. Those are adorable lululemon running shorts!!! I’ve seen the blue green ones in Chicago but without a giftcard, those are a little….over my budget.
Enjoy yours!!!!
