weekend(ish) wrap-up
I can’t believe tomorrow is Monday already…actually, it’s after midnight, so it IS Monday…yikes! I should probably be in bed since I’m working on Monday, but if you know me by any means, you know that I am a late night person and not a morning person…so I’m not even tired! This will come back to haunt me when I wake up in about six hours…oops?
friday fun day
I further proved the fact that I am not a morning person when I totally slept through Jason’s arrival on Friday. We had plans to run and hang out in the city on Friday, and I woke up laying on my phone at 9:38, realizing that I totally missed him buzzing my apartment about forty minutes earlier. I had set an alarm, but I somehow must have shut it off in my sleep (which I never do, I promise!). I ended up calling him while still a bit sleepy and we met up soon after that. Sorry Jason!!
We took off for a little run in Central Park, where Jason assured me that I would be dragging him along the entire time…says the man who runs sub-3 marathons. Uh-huh. We ended up with an eight mile run in Central Park, where I swear he was dragging me along as he yearned for Pinkberry. Don’t blame the pace on me, I was definitely at least one step behind the entire way. Take that.
Friday, December 3
8.06 miles in 1:00:56, avg pace of 7:34
Considering that we started off with an 8:26 mile over to the park…we speeded up a bit! Currently awaiting his amazing training plan that will make me run super fast…and magic fairy dust to help me along. (Please, Santa?)
After our fabulous run, we headed out to Le Pain Quotidien for some lunch…it’s a cute (chain) restaurant with delicious food and most importantly, hot coffee! (Just don’t ask me how to pronounce the name of it…)
With full stomachs, Jason was a good sport and played the role of my photographer since I needed a cheesy NYC picture for my Christmas card…we had great success and I ordered my cards today, so I am anxiously awaiting their arrival! What’s that? You want to see the picture? Well, you’ll have to send your address to susan@susanruns.com so I can send you a holiday card! I promise my holiday letter is fairly entertaining.
not so fun day saturday
I worked on Saturday…it was exhausting. Then I laid on the couch and went to bed. I’m so cool. I’m sad I missed meeting up with Lauren, especially because her visit to NYC was right up my alley!
back to sunday fun day
For the record, I’m not a crazy runner all the time. In fact, this was my first weekend without a run in a long time! I woke up and texted one of my friends to figure out baking plans for the week, and she invited me to explore some holiday shops with a bunch of her friends who were in town, so I figured that was a better idea than running. Besides, it seemed a bit chilly outside! Sometimes running can be put aside for other times that cannot be replicated. Also, I’m not in training for anything (…yet), so no worries!
See? A balanced life. (I didn’t even watch any football…who am I??)
Anyway, I’m really glad that I skipped running and hung out with some lovely ladies. I met them at the end of their brunch in SoHo, and I stumbled upon this place as I walked to meet them:
If you know me in real life, you understand the significance of this picture. For the rest of the world, I should probably do a post on that little elephant man in my life (hint: his name is Gatsby!). It will forever secure my place is Nerdville, but I think we all know I have a seat with my name on it there. In other news, I need to a trip to this Gatsby’s place some time soon, so if anyone is willing to nerd-up and visit with me, just let me know!
After meeting up we walked around the holiday market in Union Square, which was really cute and definitely gave me some gift ideas…need to hit it up again when the line for Nutella and banana crepes isn’t so long.
Time to hit the sack for two days of works in a row…I hope you all had a great weekend and are staying warm in the chill of winter that is upon us!
Send me your address!

Hi Susan! I was with Lauren in NYC on Saturday and the tips you sent her were super helpful. We were able to fit lots of chocolate into our day! Sorry that you weren’t able to meet up with us, but I’m sure there will be a next time. There’s so much more I want to do! I could spend an entire day browsing through Union Market. Thanks again! Happy Monday!
Great run!! I love running with speedy guys…such a good motivator. I totally agree that sometimes running can wait for more important things:) I have slept through so many things in my life ha! I am sending you my address right now…can’t wait for the card!
So fun that you met Jaseface (I only know his twitter name! haha)
I hope you are recovering from 2 days of work…I’m sure it is exhausting to be on your feet for those looong shifts. Glad you had a good weekend otherwise, though!
I’m sending you my address.
Ok, I totally want a Christmas picture/letter! Is that creepy??
I’m sad that we didn’t get to meet up with you this weekend, but like Becky said: your recommendations were super helpful! And you were right — the market at Union Station was amazing! We both saw so many things we would’ve loved to get there…if we didn’t have to lug them through the city all day.
Glad you had a fun weekend despite having to work! And I agree…sometimes NOT running is the best decision.
I got a card from you last year; it was so sweet!
As for running with speedy guys, yeah, that doesn’t happen. Ever.
