rawr: it means I LOVE YOU! in dinosaur

image

I absolutely love that picture…I think it’s hilarious and quite fitting for this wonderful holiday of Valentine’s Day.  You know, whatever you think Valentine’s Day actually means.  I’ve never really been one to get all hyped up about it (I think V-day dinner was once composed of burritos and watching Duke-Maryland…which was probably a reaction to the year before when I was like omg why are you taking me out to dinner I have an ORGANIC CHEMISTRY test tomorrow!!  Yes, I’m a spazz, but I got an A in orgo…), but it is what it is so we might as well talk about it.  Any excuse to blog, right?  In the spirit of the the looooooove holiday (if you could say that in a really girly voice, I’d appreciate it), let’s talk about what I love.

Okay, besides running.  I talk about it every other day, let’s take a little break.

elephants

image They’re holding trunks!!

Okay, I’ve been obsessed with elephants ever since…forever.  I have a little guy named Gatsby who I carry around with me everywhere (really, I’ll post about him soon), but they’re so cute and awesome and I want a trunk.  Not really, but how awesome would that be?

holding hands

image
I’m usually not super girly or anything, but much like the elephants above, I have a secret love for holding hands.  It’s a subtle way of telling the world…he’s miiiiiiine without making out while waiting for the subway.  I never knew that the subway waiting area was such a romantic place, but to each their own.

flip flops

image

You have no idea how much I love flip flops.  Once the weather hits 45-ish and above, it’s all I wear.  I’m quite the believer that all clothing I own happens to match my brown Rainbows (even though I know that’s not true…), and I live for wearing them.  I hate shoes and boots and all that jazz (especially if heels are involved)…dear summer, please hurry, my ugly runner feet need to see the light of day soon.

dancing

image

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not exactly a good dancer.  My official dance training is limited to a one hour dance class to get a Girl Scout badge in the fourth grade…I never even did baby ballet!  (Rumor has it my mom tried to sign up my sister and me, but we adamantly refused.  I was also GI Joe for Halloween when I was six, soooo hey there, tomboy.)  Anyway, I dance around my living room probably more than I would like to admit, and although I’m not a huge bar person, if I’m going to go out…I want to dance.  Feel free to join me!

summer

image

All of my pictures are involving summer somehow…I love warm weather and shorts and cute dresses and being tan.  Someone remind me why I didn’t move to California??  But really, every time another cold, cold winter rolled around in Chicago, everyone would ask themselves (and others…), “Why do we put up with this year after year??”  The answer?  Because the summers are so fabulous and we treasure them dearly.  You really appreciate them when you’ve been bundled up and looking like Casper for months on end…

all of you

I cannot describe how happy I am that I started blogging a little over two years ago.  I wasn’t sure anyone would want to read a blog that I wrote or that I would ever be a part of such a great community.  Words cannot explain what you guys mean to me…anyone who has been reading long enough has seen read the good times and the bad, and I am so thankful to all of you for being there for me, both to support my running and to keep me going through harder times.  I have best friends who I’ve never met, and I moved to NYC with an entire group of people waiting to embrace me.  You’re all fabulous and I love being in this little blogging community.  Awwww sappiness.

my life

Christmas Card 2010 smalljpeg3

Going along with what I said above, I cannot believe how much my life has changed over the past year.  Not saying that everything is perfect (because it certainly isn’t), but moving to NYC has been an amazing change.  I still don’t know if nursing is the best job for me, but so many opportunities are right at my fingertips that I can’t really complain.  I’m in an awesome place with so many fabulous people, and I can’t wait to see what is ahead.

And yes, I live on the Upper East Side…if you do too, we should probably be friends.  If you don’t…we can still be friends.  No worries.

end sappiness

Aw, that was cute.  That’s about all the cute I’ve got in me, so no worries, crazy running talk will resume tomorrow…I still have awesome weekendness to recap!  It’s off to work for me, but I hope your day is full of chocolate and beating hearts.  (That last one was for all the nurses out there…no codes today, please.)

What do you love??  Besides running…and me, of course.  (Serious self-promotion going on there.)  Tell me something random, or at least help me start a petition to end winter and bring on summer…

I love the sappiness and I love this post full of love!! :) I think that’s an excellent point about the winter. I also hate it and wonder every year why I do this to myself, but I think it does give me a strong appreciation for summer that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I also can’t wait to wear flip flops and be tan and feel the warm sun on my face. :) I’m so happy you’re loving your life in New York and I love this blog of yours. I’m glad I’ve been able to share in some of your running adventures through it, and hopefully will have a real-life running adventure with you soon! :)

This was adorable!! I don’t love holding hands, but I love plenty of things, too, like blogging (even when I neglect it), books, and words, and running, and friends, and pizza, and reality television when life is hard and you want to turn your brain off. That, too, is important.
