it’s friday, i’m in love…[5]

It’s Friday, friends!  I should start keeping track of my it’s friday, i’m in love, but I have no idea how many I’ve done and I’m not so sure I feel like going back and counting, so I’m going to guess and say we’re at #5.  Are you okay with that?  Because I’m okay with that.

So anyway, let’s get on with it!

red

The Boston Marathon released the colors for the marathon for this year.  One of the things I was looking forward to the most about running Boston the first time around was buying the jacket.  I like to think I’m rarely materialistic, but I really wanted one.  It symbolized the hard work it took me to get to Boston and I always looked at people with envy when I saw them wearing them.  Anyway…I have my jacket.  I like it.  It’s a conversation starter (hi, Ben).  Also, it’s teal and hard to miss.  I didn’t think I’d want another one for running Boston this year (how many marathon jackets does one really need??), but they look a bit like this:

THEY’RE RED.  I LOVE RED.  I went to Maryland.  It may and or may not be in the name of one of my best friends.  Pretty sure I’ll be swiping my credit card at the expo for this guy…

harvard sailing team

I saw this on Jocelyn’s blog and nearly died.  I literally laughed out loud.  I would love to see them live!

Highlights:  “I shared a bagel with…the garbage.”  and “Besties with testes!!”

I’m dying, that’s way too funny.

it’s 58 in january

I went running today (shocker…).  It’s January 27th and I went running in shorts and a tshirt.  Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture??  I was sweaty when I got home.  I can’t say I’m complaining, this mild weather definitely makes training for a spring marathon much, much more enjoyable.

So does the random guy who yelled, “Hey, wanna race??” at me while I was running up Park Ave.  We can race, sir, but I’m pretty sure I’ll beat you.

Friday, January 27
8.27 miles in 1:03:42, avg pace of 7:42

I promise it didn’t feel like I was running that fast.  oops.

10Ks

Maybe if I say that I love the 10k, then it will be true.  The truth is I have no idea how I ended up registering for the Brrrrrooklyn Hot Chocolate 10k for tomorrow, but Betsy is somewhat convincing, as is hot chocolate.  (Hopefully better organized that my last hot chocolate race…)  Per McMillan, a 3:09 marathon would mean that an equivalent performance at the 10k would be run at 40:16, avg pace of 6:28.  Uhhhh not so sure that one is going to happen.

Who knows, maybe I’ll become a speed demon tomorrow.  I’ve only run in Prospect Park once in my life, so maybe it’s where SPEED takes place.  Or maybe I’ll just drink lots of hot chocolate.  This is assuming Betsy and I can figure out how to get there…MTA is confusing us at this very moment.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted, this could be a disaster.

What do you think of the red jacket?  Are you still running in shorts?

I ran in shorts and a t-shirt yesterday, too. Today it’s snowing. Boulder is very confused.

That jacket is beautiful – you must buy it :) last year I ordered mine on running warehouse and had a coupon so I got it 15 or 20% off! Keep an eye out for that :)

Holy Cow I’m so excited! Red is my favorite color too! Can we buy them right now? Pre-game if you will?

great video! It is really unfortunate and sometimes embarrassing to watch a real-girl situation that is much too similar. Now I may never be able to sit there silently…instead I will be thinking of this video and having a very hilarious personal joke.

OMG. That video is ridiculous! Love it! This weather is pretty crazy. I don’t want to complain, but I also think there’s something very wrong with it. Have fun at the race tomorrow!

Ooooooooooooooooh…red! LOVELY! And even if you didn’t love red, you still HAVE to get the jacket. It’s Boston!

Harvard Sailing Team was formed by some classmates of mine when I was a theater student at NYU, so I’m always up for going to a show. Have you seen the girls’ response to Boys Will be Girls? It’s also pretty funny.

crazy winter weather! I’ve been running in shorts…But this is the Florida panhandle, so I guess you would expect that :)

And the jacket is sure buy…I’m a big fan of marathon jackets and get one for each race. expensive, but like you say, it’s a conversation starter (and I get more wear out of a jacket than a tee). Plus, it’s BOSTON!

i would be SHOCKED if you didn’t come home with that jacket. When i think of red running clothes, I think of Susan. So…you’re getting it.

MTA should read our chat convo from yesterday, and straighten out their website! You’re confusing! Yay hot chocolate 10k!

We defintely need to go see Harvard Sailing Team! They are hysterical! I follow them all on Twitter….whatever I’m a stalker. NBD.

I love the red jacket!! You must get it! I hope they still have nifty colors when I qualify in 30 years :)

I too am pretty stoked about the jacket this year; I ran it last year and was not too thrilled about the embroidery — or lack there of one. Thus, I am sure I will have to get this one.

The red color is an awesome choice on B.A.A.’s part this year, so much better than last year’s neon green!
