In case you haven’t heard, the amazing company, Oiselle, is holding a contest to send two lucky running buddies to the 2012 Olympic Track Trials in Eugene Oregon this coming June. When I first heard about this amazing opportunity, I knew I had to get in on it.
The catch is that it’s not just for you, but also for your favorite running buddy as well. It didn’t take me too long to realize who this would be. Someone who has been a blogging buddy for many years, and although the miles we’ve ran literally together have been few, the miles we’ve run together in spirit are many. Although we may fight over who is the better football team (BEARS vs. Packers…), Jeri over at JerBear Shares has been one of my favorite bloggers since (almost) day one.
Jeri and me post-Twin Cities Marathon! All the way from SoDak to cheer for me!
When thinking about how to work our application, we had a few different ideas. Some involved talking exclusively about what a miracle it is that a Bears and Packers fan could get along. Other ideas had us commenting on the fact that we considered each other to be amazing friends despite never having met before we were finally brought together at the Twin Cities Marathon this past fall. “Just haven’t met you yet,” as Michael Buble would say.
But neither of us are really all that cheesy (except for maybe Jeri with that whole cheesehead Packer thing), so we decided to go another route. Because although you may think we’re best buds, this Bears/Packers rivalry runs deep. Much like the Kara and Shalene rivalry that I’ve sure you’ve seen before. If not, here it is:
They seem like such sweet girls who light up track, but who knew that their rivalry was so intense? I didn’t even think much about it until I thought about how I really feel about Jeri. You’re in for a real surprise…
If a Packers fan and a Bears fan can overcome such deep loyalties all thanks to a common love for running, then you know we’re great running buddies. We would love the opportunity to be reunited at the Olympic Track Trials in Eugene, Oregon, screaming for our favorite runners (sprinters for Jeri, distance for me).
Jeri’s favorite mantra that she has passed on to me is, “don’t think, just run.” Oiselle truly brings this to life when they say:
When we think to ourselves, “don’t think, just run,” I believe that Jeri and I are truly embodying what Oiselle is all about. Running brought us together, screaming our faces off for our common team (USA!) would be the icing on the cake.
Jeri…I hope to see you in Oregon, and as always, BEAR DOWN!
