san francisco marathon weekend!

Greetings from San Francisco!!  I arrived (late) last night after some storm delays out of NYC, and it’s fun to say that I’m now on the other side of the country!  I’ve been here before, but I forgot how far it really is.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m an Ambassador for the San Francisco Marathon, and I couldn’t be more excited that marathon weekend is finally here!  Okay, that’s actually a lie.  I would be way more excited if I was actually running this weekend, but if you’ve been around the past five and a half months, you would know that running hasn’t exactly been in the cards.  I definitely would have thought all of this would have gone away by now, but it hasn’t.  While I would love for this to be my view on Sunday…

…I know better than that.  I’ve ran twice post-injections, and the second one left me wanting to take a nap in the East River.  (Don’t run after four night shifts and three hours of sleep…trust me.)  My body is not in any shape to take on a half or full marathon, nor would it be smart given my current state of affairs in my lower back.  I’m sure the doctor didn’t mean to run a marathon when he told me to “try” running this week…

I could easily let this get me down, and I’m definitely bummed…but I’d rather not spend my time in San Francisco sulking about the fact that I want to be running, and instead focus on the fact that I get to meet the amazing ambassadors I’ve been luckily enough to work and interact with other the past few months.  Hang out with old friends.  Invade Robin’s apartment.  (Thanks for letting me stay!)  Probably eat some delicious food.  Drink some wine in Napa with Celia.  Really, I can’t complain at all.

If you’re in San Francisco for the marathon (if you just live here!) come swing by the expo and say hi…I’ll be there from 12-5pm tomorrow, and I’d love to say hi!  Plans for Sunday are still up in the air…oops?  But no matter what happens, it’s going to be a great weekend in an amazing city, and I hope you’ll share in the excitement with me!
