So(CHO)rific
Although I am currently in the middle of hating New York City because I am hunting for an apartment (anyone have a studio on the UES that doesn’t have a million dollar broker’s fee and isn’t literally the size of a shoebox?? Let me know, thanks), one of the huge perks of city living is that there is SO much to do here. And lots of new things popping up all the time.
I’m a long-time eater of Chobani, and I personally think they should sponsor the burn unit because so many of the nurses eat it. (We should look to see how it helps with burn healing…it already looks like the SSD we put on burns…) I was SUPER excited when Amy invited me to an event at the newly opened Chobani SoHo, a yogurt bar in…SoHo.
I rarely make it down to SoHo, but I dragged my post-night shift tired self down to try out some yogurt creations. I checked out the website and was really excited to see what they had to offer. It’s located on the corner of Prince and West Broadway, which made it difficult to find when I was walking up and down Spring St…oops. Night shift brain, fail.
Upon walking in, I spotted Jocelyn and Meggie (isn’t life grand???), and we got to sampling all the different creations that they had. They were all with their plain yogurt (which I admittedly usually eat…I just eat flavored straight out of the container at work…it’s easier) and different toppings. The first one had pistachios and chocolate, along with oranges and mint…and I’ll admit that it was my favorite from the start.
The fun part is you take the glass bowl with you, and then if you bring it back, you get twenty-five cents off your next purchase. I like how green that is. You can also buy all the ingredients that they use as toppings so you can make them at home.
Other flavors included…
Blueberry with chia seeds, hemp, walnuts, and light agave.
Cucumbers, mint, and salt…with pita chips. Reminded me to tzatziki!
Seasonal fruit (strawberries) + granola and honey. And Gatsby and Flat Stanley.
PB&J: peanut butter, jelly, grapes, and peanuts.
Others not picture include one with pineapple, toasted coconut, hazelnuts, and light agave, as well as one with figs, walnuts, and honey, plus one with olive oil, salt, pepper, and pita chips.
At the end of the day, the first one was still my favorite, followed by the figs + walnut + honey combination. I probably never would have made these myself, and at $3.50-$3.75 per dish, the price isn’t too bad. (I buy Chobani at my grocery store for $1.50, soooo yeah.)
SoHo is a bit of a hike to go for a yogurt bar, but if I was in the area I would definitely check it out. It’s also right around the corner from Bar Method SoHo, which one of my fellow nurses teaches at…and it will get your legs shaking! Yogurt would be a healthy way to refuel after a workout!
Definitely check out Chobani Soho if you’re in the neighborhood and love Greek yogurt…maybe give you some new ideas for eating yogurt at home too! And thanks to Chobani for this event!

I heard about this and am dying to get there! Sounds amazing!
Gatsby and Flat S — such camera hogs!
O.M.G. That is the coolest thing ever! Since I’m middle eastern I was basically raised on plain yogurt and we ate it ALL THE TIME with salt, pepper, and potato chips as dippings. This bar is like the chip to my dip! Why didn’t I think of it?!
That sounds so awesome!! Let me know how the apartment hunting goes … ugh! I’m planning on moving out to NYC in the next 6 months and am not looking forward to the apt. searching!
P.S. Will update you with a pura vida email soon!
I got to try a sample of the Chobani bar treats when I was in town for BlogHer. Man it was good! Wish they’d open one in DC!
what chobani needs to do is make a FROZEN yogurt bar. tell me im not a genius or what.
Isn’t life grand?!?!?!
I love chobani! How cool to have a chobani store! Is this the next pinkberry?
