I can't even imagine how hard it is to have a decent eating schedule on the night shift! It sounds like you have a good plan though - smashed avocado on toast is delicious. If I ever manage to sleep in a little, I'm taking you up on the 8 a.m. slot.

Hope you have a good run today and the PB gu is a winner!

When I am back to running you can best believe I can meet up or either of those times! Ahh, the joys of a research year...

I know what you mean about cereal - why is it so good? More puffins please. I bought FOUR BOXES OF CEREAL last night. four. and one big container of Fage.

Pretty random, but someone in my running group posted this World Marathon list for 2011.

Your PR should be in there somewhere!

Thanks for this post! I start as an ICU nurse on Monday and will be switching to nights after orientation. The biggest thing I'm worried about it how to handle training for triathlons and nights. Sounds like it can be done although the "zombie run" doesn't seem appealing. Any other tips along the way will be appreciated.

I have no idea how you manage on the night shifts and switching between night and day. I just don't think I could handle it. But you seem to have a plan and it seems to work for you! Good luck getting through these next several weeks on nights!

I think the things you have to change to work the night shift are so interesting. Someone wrote on my blog this week that they had a hard time with eating too much when they worked night shift because they confused tiredness with hunger. I bet I would totally do that!

I definitely crave cereal and other carby things when I'm tired. Last night I was so tired, that I had to take a nap before dinner. I just wanted to eat the quickest thing possible when I woke up. If I had cereal, that would have been it! Instead I made scrambled eggs with spinach and lots of ketchup. It seemed a little more balanced.
